Facilitators: Colin Bennett & Lyubomyr Matsekh
Feeling stuck? Facing a problem with no clear solution? Or perhaps you have a solution, but feel locked into a path that leads only to frustration? Maybe you’re being pulled in different directions – wanting to move forward, yet sensing you haven’t fully understood the problem.
This workshop explores the tension at the heart of human thinking – rooted in the structure of the brain itself. The left hemisphere narrows down toward certainty and control, while the right opens up to possibility, insight, and creativity. Learning how to balance these two modes of thinking is essential for navigating complexity and generating better solutions.
Through an engaging and interactive format, participants will explore:
- Why we are drawn to certainty – and how it can limit our thinking and progress
- How uncertainty can unlock deeper, more creative and insightful solutions
- Why what we believe we “know” can become a constraint on innovation
- Different types of problems and how to approach them effectively
- What happens in the brain during moments of creative insight
- The importance of divergent thinking – and how to develop it
- How metaphor and visual thinking can open up new ways of understanding and problem-solving
Participants will gain a comprehensive framework for developing creative insight and improving their ability to think clearly and effectively in complex situations.
If you’re feeling stuck and want to get unstuck – this workshop is for you.
Learning Outcomes
- New perspectives and insights applied to participants’ projects
- Practical tools for overcoming challenges in innovation and startup contexts
- Enhanced ability to think creatively and work with uncertainty
Participants will receive a certificate issued by Learn Biomimicry, co-branded with 4InnoPipe2 and Flames@SmileHigh.
Meet the Facilitators
Colin Bennett
“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.” – Albert Einstein
Colin Bennett is, above all, a teacher. With over 35 years of experience, he has worked across classrooms, corporate environments, and startup ecosystems—helping individuals and organizations better understand how people learn, think, and create.
His work is grounded in real-world experience, where theory meets the complexity of human thinking. Colin challenges the dominant view of the brain as a machine, emphasizing instead its embodied, intuitive, and imaginative nature.
Deeply influenced by Dr. Iain McGilchrist’s The Master and His Emissary, Colin explores how modern thinking often undervalues intuition and creativity – our most powerful human capabilities. His work invites participants to reconnect with these abilities and rethink how they approach learning, problem-solving, and innovation.

Dr. Lyubomyr Matsekh
Dr. Lyubomyr Matsekh is Sustainability Portfolio Lead at ELEKS, where he works with global companies to leverage technology in achieving their net-zero and sustainability goals.
