Representatives of the 4InnoPipe2 project participated in the EIT Higher Education Initiative Cohort 4 Sensemaking Workshop in Valencia, exploring opportunities for stronger collaboration, strategic synergies, and systemic impact across European higher education and innovation ecosystems.
The EIT Higher Education Initiative Cohort 4 Sensemaking Workshop, organized by the EIT Higher Education Initiative and Climate-KIC, took place at Asindown – La Mare Que Va in Valencia, Spain. The event brought together representatives of European higher education institutions and innovation projects to reflect on their experiences, exchange knowledge, and identify opportunities for collaboration beyond individual project frameworks.
Representing the 4InnoPipe2 – Strengthening Innovation Pipelines for Impactful Universities 2.0 project were Titta Pirkola, 4InnoPipe2 Project Leader from the University of Helsinki, and Monika Sońta from Kozminski University.
Building Synergies Across European Projects
The workshop focused on moving beyond isolated project activities and fostering strategic connections between initiatives working toward shared goals. Through collaborative discussions, storytelling, and strategic mapping of the Theory of Change, participants explored how higher education institutions can contribute to meaningful and sustainable systemic transformation.
For the 4InnoPipe2 project, one of the central reflections emerging from the workshop was the concept of “entanglement” – connecting different projects, institutions, and funding frameworks to strengthen their collective impact.
The project team emphasized its commitment to building stronger links between EIT HEI Cohort 4 projects, Erasmus+ KA2 initiatives, European University Alliances, and Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs). By identifying complementary activities and leveraging diverse funding opportunities, these collaborations can generate additional value for universities, students, researchers, and innovation ecosystems.
Strengthening the Impact of 4InnoPipe2
Participation in the workshop provided an opportunity to reflect on the strategic direction of 4InnoPipe2 and explore how its activities can contribute to broader European innovation objectives.
The exchange of experiences with other Cohort 4 projects highlighted the importance of connecting existing initiatives, sharing resources, and developing partnerships that extend beyond individual project lifecycles.
By strengthening cooperation across European higher education and innovation networks, 4InnoPipe2 aims to amplify its impact, encourage knowledge exchange, and support sustainable innovation within universities and their wider ecosystems.
The project team extends its appreciation to the EIT Higher Education Initiative, Climate-KIC, and fellow Cohort 4 participants for creating a collaborative environment that encouraged reflection, strategic thinking, and new opportunities for cooperation.
