As part of the CloudEARTHi Conference “Toward a Knowledge-Based Society,” held in Wrocław, Poland, from June 9th to 11th, 2025, Mjellma Carabregu Vokshi, together with Gentrit Berisha and Lura Rexhepi Mahmutaj, delivered an inspiring presentation titled:
“Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning: A Case Study from Kosovo’s Higher Education System.”
The lecture explored how Kosovo’s higher education institutions are approaching the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching and learning processes, highlighting both opportunities and challenges. With a focus on the strategic, ethical, and practical aspects of AI implementation, the speakers provided valuable insights into how AI can transform education systems in emerging contexts.
Drawing on their experience and research, the speakers presented concrete steps taken in Kosovo to promote the responsible and effective use of AI in academia. These efforts include initiatives aimed at building AI literacy among educators and students, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and developing institutional policies that ensure AI is used ethically and transparently in educational environments.
Key Objectives Presented:
- Building AI literacy among academic staff and students
- Training and supporting academic staff in adopting AI tools for teaching and research
- Empowering students to use AI as a tool for learning and professional growth
- Establishing policies and practical guidelines for the ethical use of AI in higher education
The presentation also emphasized the need for a balanced approach, where AI enhances rather than replaces the human element in education. By focusing on ethical considerations and the broader impact on teaching methods and learning outcomes, the case study from Kosovo contributes to the ongoing European conversation on the future of education in the age of AI.
This lecture was part of a broader conference program dedicated to exploring the intersections of technology, sustainability, and education as key drivers for a more equitable and competitive society.
